- 2018-19 - Building the groundwork
Laying the foundation for disaster response
The Trust began building its disaster-response capability well before it was tested. It trained staff and community volunteers in first aid, and set aside a dedicated flood relief provision in its accounts — a deliberate readiness measure, not a reaction to any single event. This groundwork would prove decisive within a year.
- 2019-20 - Floods, then a pandemic
Rs. 47 lakh raised, 1,50,000+ food packets delivered
The year tested that readiness twice over. When floods struck Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka, the Trust mobilised relief materials by the truckload to affected regions. Then, as COVID-19 emerged, ELCITA's Chairman issued an appeal that raised a relief fund of approximately Rs. 47 lakh. The Trust used it to deliver over 1,50,000 food packets and 1,42,000 free meals, more than 6,500 ration kits, and 5,560+ masks and PPE items — including face shields and sanitiser — to hospitals, schools and frontline workers, including Electronics City Fire Station and Singasandra Government Hospital. It also partnered with Aurigene to procure an ambulance, strengthening emergency healthcare access for the community.
- 2020-21 - Scaling up healthcare infrastructure
Rs. 1.40 crore ICU built in partnership with Infosys
This was the Trust's most intensive year of response, spanning healthcare infrastructure, direct relief and long-term public health access. It partnered with Infosys to sponsor a 15-bed ICU at Kauvery Hospital, supplied two oxygen generator plants and 87 oxygen concentrators, created a 72-unit Oxygen Bank for public use, and donated 6 ventilators across Chinmaya, Excelcare and Sri Sai Hospitals — infrastructure that would go on to serve patients through the second wave and beyond. Over 1,80,000 food packets and more than 8,800 ration kits reached migrant workers and economically weaker communities, a flood relief fund of Rs. 11 lakh+ was disbursed, and close to 10,000 people were vaccinated through drives run with the Government of Karnataka. As the second wave hit, the Trust helped patients access hospital beds, medicines and oxygen, extended operational support to partner charitable hospitals, and established Jana Aushalaya, a generic medicine centre, to keep essential medication affordable and accessible beyond the crisis.
- 2021-22 - Recovery begins
From crisis response to community restoration
With infrastructure in place, the Trust's focus shifted from emergency response to recovery. It donated an ambulance to Kauvery Hospital for free public use and contributed oxygen concentrators worth over Rs. 24 lakh to sustain COVID-19 treatment. As schools prepared to reopen, the Trust repaired and restored 24 government school buildings left in disuse during the pandemic — work that directly cleared the path for students to return to in-person classes.
- 2022-23 - Sustained pandemic recovery
Rs. 1.29 crore+ committed in a third consecutive year of COVID response
For a third straight year, the Trust sustained its pandemic-recovery commitment rather than winding it down, contributing over Rs. 1.29 crore toward food and ration supplies, medicines, oxygen concentrators, ventilators, nebulisers and pulse oximeters, while continuing relief support for the poor. This continuity, more than any single figure, reflects the Trust's shift from crisis response to long-term community resilience.
- 2023-24 - Strengthening community resilience
From emergency repair to sustained readiness
As large-scale pandemic response wound down, the Trust turned to localised needs and future preparedness. Following damage at Basapura, it supported reconstruction planning and arranged temporary schooling so students weren't left without classrooms. It also ran a blood donation camp that collected 120 units, and distributed first aid kits to government schools — closing the loop on a six-year arc that began with first aid training in 2018-19, and now hands that same readiness forward to the schools themselves.
